I have a Pearl Blackberry from T-Mobile. The track ball started malfunctioning recently. Any tips?

I have the insurance - which I guess guarantees replacement (for around $100). But, I do not want them to say that it is cosmetic (and then not replace it) - I really need a new blackberry because the track ball gets stuck when I need to move the cursor left. ANY TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL INSURANCE CLAIM? Thanks everyone for the help!

    You can try the following:

    Turn off the device. Then press down and hold the trackball. While holding the trackball roll the ball around in all directions. You want to be pressing the trackball pretty firmly when doing this.
